Murchison Falls National Park is located in Masindi District in western Uganda and in Amuru District in northern Uganda. The park is situated approximately 300 kilometers (190 mi), by road, northwest of Kampala, Uganda's capital city. The park is the location of the famous Murchison Falls, where the waters of the stately Nile River wring through a narrow gorge, only 7 meters (23 ft) wide, before plunging 43 meters (141 ft) below..

The 3800 sq. km, Murchison Falls National Park is the largest of Uganda’s Parks. The scenic topography made up of rolling savannah of tall grasslands to thick bush and woodlands supports over 76 species of mammals, 10 species of primates, 250 species of butterflies, 450 bird species and more than 465 species of plants.  To form the famed Murchison Falls, River Nile narrows dramatically to crash through a 7-meter gorge, falling 45 meters to the rocks below.  Enjoy a walk around the top of the falls and visit the Bat Caves, housing thousands of Egyptian Fruit Bats.  A 19-kilometre cruise on the Nile, to the base of the falls is truly unforgettable with a chance to view wildlife along the banks including hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, Uganda kob, elephants and giraffe, hartebeest and waterbuck. Others include oribi, bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, the shy sitatunga, bush duiker, warthog and bushpig. Carnivores found in the park include lion, leopard and spotted hyena. Chimpanzee occur in several wild populations within or near the park.  Other primates include black-and-white Colobus, Grey-cheeked Mangabeys, Vervet monkeys, Red-tailed monkey, Olive Baboons and several species of pottos and bushbabies. Common birds seen include Goliath heron, Egyptian geese, pelican, bee-eaters, kingfishers, hornbill, cormorant, saddle-bill stork and the rare Shoebill stork. Game fish found in the Nile include Barbel, Electric Catfish and Tiger fish.
